Get to Know
Dr. Alexandra Otto
Dr. Otto is a proud graduate of VCU’s School of Dentistry (DDS), Denver Health Medical Center’s General Practice Residency (GPR), and the NYU Langone Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry- Alaska Site (Pediatrics). She is honored to have been inducted as a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Otto was recently recognized as one of the American Dental Association’s 2022 “Top 10 under 10” dentists in the nation and has continuously been voted the best pediatric dentist in Hays County.
Dr. Otto is actively involved in organized dentistry and holds numerous leadership roles at all levels of the tripartite. She is a national American Dental Association (ADA) Success Program speaker and new dentist representative to the ADA’s Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention (CAAP). She is the vice president of the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, council member to the Texas Dental Association’s Council on Professions and Trends, membership co-chair for the Capital Area Dental Society, and member-at-large of the Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Otto is a graduate of the ADA's Institute for Diversity in Leadership program, where she presented Kids Tooth Team Outreach as her class project. As the founders of Kids Tooth Outreach, Dr. Alex and Tim have created a 501c3 non-profit organization that utilizes a mobile dental home to provide free dental care to underserved children in central Texas. The program started in 2021 and they have already provided a dental home to hundreds of children and donated $200,000+ of free dental care to Texas children in need.

Tim Otto
Tim Otto is a proud alumnus of the University of Denver. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Finance and Management and went on to receive his International MBA and received the Excellence in Managerial Leadership award during his time there. Tim is and experienced executive and entrepreneur who has worked in national management roles for Fortune 500 companies before joining forces with Dr Alex to create Alcan.
Prior to his time in corporate America, Tim was the founder of several successful startup companies, and sold his first company through a leading M&A firm at the age of 25. His business acumen, along with his expertise in developing tools, techniques and processes that allow for strategic, intelligent and sustained growth give Alcan Dental Cooperative the best of both worlds. A practitioner you know will have your best interests at the forefront of every decision and a business mind you can trust.
Colleen Dickens
Regional Manager
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Colleen joins Alcan with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance and over a decade of hands-on experience in the dental industry. Her expertise in implementing successful business processes, combined with years of growing dental organizations to a national level, highlights her ability to develop tailored strategies that drive growth and efficiency. With a niche in pediatric dentistry and strong management skills, Colleen excels in leading teams to achieve exceptional results. In her free time, she loves to travel and go on outdoor adventures with her fiancé and two fur babies.

I holda Master's of Science in Kinesiology, specializing in Health Promotion andWellness from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. With over 10 years ofexperience, I'm Social Media Certified, bringing expertise in craftingeffective social media marketing strategies and content creation to elevatevisibility, drive engagement, and increase conversions.
Randall Smith
Director of Sales and Marketing
Randall (Randy) comes to Alcan from the technology sector. After 29 years in technology (19 years with Hewlett-Packard/10 years with Dell), he retired from Dell in 2021. During this time, he led various organizations in the Enterprise segment. As a director, he led both sales and engineering in nationally based GTM endeavors including healthcare, finance, engineering and cloud-based initiatives. AI deployment and infrastructure design with Nvidia was a chief element among these verticals. One of his last organizational projects was working with his team to design a gnomic research high performance computing environment with one of New York’s largest healthcare institutions. He received much recognition and awards during his career.
After Dell, Randy focused on environmentally and socially enriching pursuits from volunteering as a history teacher to assisting organizations that were focused on programs to benefit both international and local based communities.
Randy is married to his college sweetheart Melissa who works at a dental office in the town where they live outside of Austin. Their oldest daughter is finishing her master’s degree at Tufts University in Museum Sciences and their younger daughter is beginning her journey at the University of Oklahoma this fall with plans to study radiology. Animal lovers, their family also includes three spoiled animals – two dogs and a cat.
Our Advisors
Dr. Jae Grymes D.D.S
Dr. Jae Grymes was born and raised in Washington, DC. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of Maryland. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Grymes completed a General Practice Residency in Los Angeles. Deciding to dual specialize, she completed a 2 year residency in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital Colorado and a 3 year residency in dental anesthesiology at Stony Brook Medical Center.
Dr. Jae is committed to being a lifelong learner and regularly attends continuing education courses. Her practice philosophy is evidence based, detail oriented, and centered on patient (and parent) education. Additionally, she is board certified both in pediatric dentistry and anesthesiology. She maintains an active membership in several dental organizations, including the American Dental Association. Dr. Grymes holds current certifications in Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jae is an active mentor and a volunteer with the Miracle Messages organization. Additionally, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. James Singleton
Dr. James Singleton was born and raised in Southern California. He attended Northwestern University Dental School, graduating in 1983 and then attended the University of Illinois for his pediatric residency graduating in 1985. He joined the Indian Health Service and was stationed on the Navajo reservation for 4 years. Dr. Singleton moved to Alaska in 1989 where he would become the Area Pediatric Dental Consultant and teach the pediatric dental portion of the Advanced General Practice Residency Program at the Alaska Native Medical Center. In 2005 he became the founding Associate Director of the NYU Langone Pediatric Dental Residency Program, Alaska Site. He served in the United States Public Health Service and after 20 retired with the rank of Captain. He is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has served as a site visitor for the American Dental Association Committee on Dental Accreditation, and a Board Examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is married, has two grown sons and three beautiful granddaughters. He enjoys all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing and cycling with family and friends in Alaska.
